WEST eCAL 1/8 DIN Controller - Functional, cost-effective, and even more compact

WEST and Automated Control Engineering Group (A.C.E.) announce the extension of the eCAL controller range. The newest addition to the range is a powerful standard controller in the 1/8 DIN (98 x 48 mm) format.

The new eCAL controller shows its strength as a cost-effective and compact solution with improved aesthetic design, a reduced behind panel depth of 70mm and capability expected from higher end products. This includes a universal input for all sensor types allowing flexible utilisation, 2 or 3 outputs (including relay, SSR driver, linear DC and RS485), full PID control and a simple user interface with easy to read LED display consisting of 4 digits upper and lower, 4 button membrane keypad including function button that can be configured for auto/manual, tuning or profiler control and 3 output status LEDs.

Typical application areas for eCAL are smaller laboratory and industrial furnaces, incubators, and sterilizers.

  • UL certification - available for the whole family of eCAL controllers
  • Universal Input – one controller for all sensor types
  • 70mm behind panel depth for easy installation – also ideal for retrofit
  • Programmer function for applications requiring control with moving setpoint

STS Sub-sea and Offshore Pressure Monitoring

The Sub-sea and Offshore markets offer a challenge for product specification with customers requiring high-end products. The requirements for such products are far from a standard pressure transmitter. These products are often required to be customizable and have highly robust construction.

The new products offered by STS have been designed especially for the Sub-sea and Offshore markets. STS has extensive experience in supplying the sub-sea industry, using their knowledge and experience to create this highly functional range of products, with specific industry requirements.

All the products from STS in the Sub-sea and Offshore range are certified (ATEX, FM, CSA, etc.). The range has constructions for pressure sensing up to: 1817 bar (26,350 psi), overpressure rating up to: 2272 bar (33,000 psi) and can handle applications with ambient pressure up to: 384 bar (5,570 psi).

Providing instruments in offshore and sub-sea applications requires specially designed parts and also test procedures to guarantee the expected quality standard and life time. STS can provide customers with special parts, test procedures and required accessories.

STS can offer the following for customized products:

  • Special procedures for functional controls
  • Up to 16 pins glass-to-metal seal
  • Tools for hyperbaric testing
  • Welding analysis
  • Customized markings
  • Special cable sleeves
  • Customer specific pressure connections / constructions
  • Sensing of different parameters: pressure, water detection, etc.

New MEMS-based Inclinometer with Linear Output

Automated Control Engineering Group (A.C.E.) and ASM announces the PTAM27L series, a new inclinometer based upon MEMS technology for single and dual axis tilt angle measurement. The compact, flat housing was designed for applications where space is critical. For single axis versions, the measurement ranges span from +/-15° to +/- 180°, in increments of 15°. For dual axis versions, the measurement ranges span from +/-15° to +/- 60°, in increments of 15°.

The PTAM27L series is an extension of the POSITILT® family of MEMS based inclinometers. This wear-free sensing technology offers high resolution and is shock resistant. The housing is rated IP64 and with a height of only 10mm, the PTAM27L can be easily installed into the tightest locations.

Several analog outputs with the corresponding excitation voltages are available:
  • U2L = 0.5…10 V with 18…36 VDC
  • U6L = 0.5…4.5 V with 5 V DC ±5% (ratiometric)
  • U8L = 0.5…4.5 V with 10…36 VDC
  • I1L = 4…20 mA with 18…36 VDC

The PTAM27L offers 0.1° resolution, +/-1° linearity and +/- 100 x 10-6/ C° temperature stability. The operating temperature range is 0 to 60 C° full scale.
