Simply safer: AS-Interface Safety Switches and Enabling Switches

Automated Control Engineering Group (A.C.E.) are the regional distributors for the new Pepperl+Fuchs AS-Interface Safety Switches and Enabling Switches. These new safety switches with integrated AS-Interface ensure the safe and reliable monitoring of protection devices and doors.

These mechanical locking devices have LEDs for AS-Interface and fault conditions as well as separate actuators. With a width of just 40 mm they are perfectly adapted to current door profiles. The robust, rotating head in hardened steel guarantees flexibility and long life.

Reed switches with AS-Interface in compact dimensions of 26 x 36 x 13 (WxLxH in mm) are unique. These integrate perfectly on small doors/flaps, via the cable outlet with M12 connectors.

Transponder systems operate with a reading head and a fixed assigned transponder as an actuator. The large monitoring range renders them insensitive to mechanical tolerances and to door bounce. The unique actuator code offers high security against tampering and enables their use in machines in accordance with category 4/PLe.

Guard locking devices can also be easily closed and activated using the yellow AS-Interface cable. They are 40 mm wide, withstand a tensile load of up to 2,500 N and offer four bright LED indicators with status information. The active door guarding means that there is no unplanned downtime and productivity is increased.

3-position enabling switches have a panic function and enable safe operation for set up and maintenance in the hazardous area.

SU18 Series Fiber Optic Sensors

Automated Control Engineering Group (A.C.E.) are now regionally distributing the new range of Pepperl+Fuchs user-friendly fiber optic sensors; SU18 series. Basic Line SU18 series for standard applications is the fastest sensor in its class.

The highly visible dual display assists with sensor setup, monitors signal stability, and during operation indicates if a critical function reserve value is reached. The user can easily switch between three operating modes by DIP switch, without additional programming. Exceptional features include the high-speed mode for fast object detection and the high resolution mode for low contrasts.

As part of the SU18 range is the SU18/35 high power fiber optic sensor for remote range applications. The SU18/35 combines the basic unit with high power and a long sensing range of more than 1.5 m, offering the performance of a high-end sensor in a basic model. The sensor is ideal for applications where dirt, grease and grime are present. High performance optics provide functional safety.

Benefits at a glance:
  • Four versions available: SU18 Standard and SU18/35 High Power, each with teach-in and AGC or potentiometer
  • AGC (Automatic Gain Control) for foolproof and faster teach-in
  • Clear indication of signal status and function reserve on dual display
  • Various operating modes and selectable timer functions tailored to specific applications
  • Narrow 9 mm enclosure enables the mounting of more sensors with the same amount of available space

VisuNet Direct Monitor

The new industrial monitors from Pepperl+Fuchs, VisuNet DM (Direct Monitor) deliver reliable operation and long life in harsh application environments, or in applications demanding continuous duty operation. They are true industrialized monitors, delivering the highest MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures) in the industry at over 550,000 hours. These high quality flat panel monitors carry both the UL and CE mark, and are available for general purpose or Class I/Div 2 environments.

VisuNet DM flat panel monitors are available in 10”, 12”, 15”, 18” and 19” sizes, and are rated for use in temperatures ranging from -10° C to 60° C. They accept standard VGA or NTSC (or PAL) inputs from a PC or video camera source. The VisuNet DM industrial monitors are 12 V DC powered displays, powered from an external power supply to keep heat away from the monitor, maximizing reliability and operating life.

VisuNet DM rugged flat panel monitors are made with only industrial grade components. Touch screen and transflective options are available. Additional attributes that make these a true industrial flat panel display solution include:
  • Heavier gauge metal & wiring, corrosion protection
  • Internal bulkhead wiring, gold plating, latching/tie downs
  • Better shock/vibration specs, shock absorbing gaskets
  • Higher temperature and humidity specs
  • Brighter back lamps (up to 600 nits) and wider viewing angles
  • Longevity/support/replaceable back lamps
  • Full industrial agency ratings
An additional option for harsh environments is a hardened resistive touch screen. A thin glass layer is bonded to the front user surface providing superior protection against long term surface wear and incidental scuffs. This glass layer also protects against the effects of corrosive chemicals and provides shatter protection from frontal impacts. The hardened resistive touch screen is interchangeable with the standard touch screen, and can be upgraded upon request.
