Stainless Steel Resolvers Designed for Extreme Duty and Food Grade Applications

AMCI and Automated Control Engineering Group (ACE) realise the need for extreme-duty sensor feedback in harsh industrial environments, and in response, provide a family of stainless steel resolver transducers.

Options include 303 or 304 stainless steel housing and shaft, and a variety of mounting styles. The IP67 rated product line comes standard with either a 1/4", 3/8”, or 5/8” stainless steel shaft and an oversized double row sealed bearing. The input shaft in each of these stainless steel resolvers extends through the internal core of the resolver rotor windings. This one-piece rotor design eliminates internal coupling components, increases shaft strength and maximizes reliability.

Durability was the highest priority when designing AMCI’s stainless steel resolver transducer family. The optional 5/8” stainless steel shaft boasts exceptional shaft loading, and the high temperature rating up to 150°C (302°F) provides reliability where most sensors fail. Mechanically connected to the shaft of the controlled machine, these transducers are subject to severe conditions such as vibration, mechanical shock and possibly contaminates such as coolants, caustic vapors and salt water mist. For food and beverage applications where sanitizing wash downs are required, the stainless steel housing and robust IP67 rating will withstand all hose spray and cleaning solutions.

High performance applications like those found in paper factories, steel mills, ship loading, and mining applications are the inspiration for these extreme-duty rotary sensors. AMCI also considered food grade requirements when designing these resolvers. The non-porous nature of stainless steel will not support growth of mold, mildew, or bacteria. This provides a hygienic, easy to clean solution for customers manufacturing, processing, or packaging food.

The new FEAS LDR 40 - 5Amp. USV for 24V and 12V supply

At the begining of March ACE announced we are the exclusive national distibutor for the newest FEAS products - the Accupacks LDR4012 and LDR4024. These products are made with charging regulators and serve to buffer 12Volt- and 24Volt systems. The Accupack LDR will be connected between the line voltage and the installation, in order to provide DC to the equipment. In the event of a mains power failure, the “on board” sealed batteries supply the system, connected to the outlet. The supply-duration depends on the load current of the consumer. The batteries can be easily replaced, if necessary.

FEAS products are used in all industries, anywhere there are critical applications.

To provide the needed power and in order to maintain a wide input voltage range, a switch-mode power-supply is built-in. That means for AC - input voltage a range from 85 to 270Volts and for DC - input voltage a range from 150 to 400Volts. During the online operation the AC/DC converter supplies the accumulator with optimal charging-voltage as well as the output load, in a way that under normal operation-conditions the batteries are always properly charged. This modern power supply is designed in accordance to the relevant international regulations and works with high efficiency.

The output-voltage follows the battery voltage level. In any kind of operation, normal or emergency, the full load can be drawn from LDR4012 as well as from the LDR4024. For a limited period, the peak-current could exceed the nominal current up to 50%. The output is short-circuit-proof and effectively protected against polarity failure.

The 2 built in relays allow remote monitoring of the current status of the LDR.

Features:

- no extra Power-supply required

- Input voltage range: 70......270VAC

- Accus integrated

- Easy Accu-replacement

- Accu monitoring integrated

- High capacity cells

The New ASM WS31 Cable Extension Sensor Series that include a New Mounting Bracket for Easy Flexible Installation

ACE is please be introducing the new ASM WS31 Series. The series includes a new mounting bracket that allows for easy and flexible installation of the sensor and thus position measurement in almost every direction.

The WS31 linear position sensor series is well suited for many OEM production applications such as in medical testing equipment or in aerospace testing equipment and offers measuring ranges of 10 and 20 inches.

The WS31 series operates on the proven and reliable cable extension position sensor principal which uses a highly flexible stainless steel cable that is drawn onto a cable drum. An internal spring maintains the tension in the cable and ensures that the cable is recoiled exactly as a single layer on the drum. The output signal is proportional to length of the cable that has been pulled out of the sensor by the moving object. The WS31 series is available with an analog R1K, 4-20mA or digital incremental encoder A/B/Z output.

This position sensor can be installed with many different orientations with the included mounting brackets or threaded spacer nuts. The flexible design of the sensor’s housing allows the sensor to be rotated and mounted in 90 degree increments with the use of metal brackets.

The enclosure rating for the sensor housing is IP50 and has a linearity rating of ± 0.35% of the full scale measuring range. This sensor weighs less than 4 oz.

The new WS31 is compact; 1.7” x 1.2” x 1.2, and is an economical solution that can be easily integrated into existing systems whenever direct displacement measurement feedback is needed without requiring extensive mechanical changes in the end application.

ASM are always introducing new series and products that are useful in all measurement automation applications. Re-visit this blog for future product developments from ASM and other partner companies of ACE. To see out full range of partner companies click here.
