The new K-System signal conditioners from Pepperl+Fuchs are not just characterized by their new and clear design engineered for utmost convenience and usability. Ranging from switch amplifiers to highly functional signal converters, they feature galvanically isolated signal transmission for the utmost in precision and safety. The new K-System signal conditioners are distributed regionally by Automated Control Engineering (ACE).

With the variety of process control systems available, it is often necessary to convert an input signal into a format that the system will accept. Signal conditioners take signals from an assortment of field sensors such as thermocouples and RTDs, and convert those signals into any of several standard instrument signals (1…5V, 4…20 mA, etc.).

Signal conditioners are also beneficial to the accurate transfer of these signals, isolation and the elimination of ground loops. Additionally, signal conditioners are
· Easy to specify
· Easy to integrate
· Easy to expand

One main function of signal conditioners is to prevent the effects of interference voltage and current through the use of galvanic isolation. This eliminates grounding problems of wide network signal cables. Signal conditioners offer much more than just this isolating function. This includes additional functions, like linearization and sensor supply as well as sensor and line fault detection.

Many signal conditioners have additional relay outputs in order to report min/max trip values. K-System signal conditioners are mounted on the DIN mounting rail. If the Power Rail is used, the wiring needed for the supply voltage and collective error messages is reduced significantly.

For more infromation about the Pepperl+Fuchs K-System Signal Conditioner or any other products supplied by ACE please visit the ACE website or email the staff at ACE on sales@aceg.com.au

FEAS Power supply with integrated Buffer module SSE90

Short duration voltage drops in line supply, generated by an overload or by switching operations, are often the reason for momentary interruptions of the DC supply. If the DC Circuit is not buffered, the consequence may be a serious system crash or other system malfunction.

FEAS has created a solution for this problem with the new FEAS SSE90, distributed nationally by Automated Control Engineering Group (ACE). FEAS combined the advantages of a modern and compact switch-mode power supply with a maintenance-free buffer-module which uses high capacity double layer capacitors as storage elements to create the SSE90.

This feature offers the user many benefits compared to battery buffering, such as periodic replacing of batteries being no longer necessary and no gas discharge as with batteries removing the need for additional ventilation. Also due to the short charging time, the SSE90 is rapidly ready for buffering again after a line interruption.

The compact design of this buffer module is especially made for a space-saving, DIN-rail mounting. Total encapsulation with a special resin makes the device shockproof and suitable for a tropical environment. This high industrial quality, along with the wide operating temperature range, allows for applications in many fields.

The New Pepperl+Fuchs WirelessHART - Wireless Communication Systems make Communication Easy

Automated Control Engineering (ACE) introduces the new WirelessHART components from Pepperl+Fuchs - free communication from the need of wires, while integrating conventional field devices into the wireless world. With the WirelessHART standard, wireless communication is now reaching the process automation world. WirelessHART is based on the established HART protocol, which makes it easy to integrate it into any existing fieldbus infrastructure and uses a 2.4 GHz band as a transfer medium for several radio technologies.

WirelessHART™:
· Is an open and interoperative standard
· Is based upon the established HART protocol
· Uses known tools and procedures for configuration, maintenance and diagnosis
· Allows wireless access to existing field devices

WirelessHART uses a flat mesh network where all radio stations (field devices) form a network. Every participating station serves simultaneously as a signal source and a repeater. The original transmitter sends a message to its nearest neighbor, which passes the message on until the message reaches the base station and the actual receiver.

In addition, alternative routes are set up in the initialization phase. If the message cannot be transmitted on a particular path, due to an obstacle or a defective receiver, the message is automatically passed to an alternative route. So, in addition to extending the range of the network, the flat mesh network provides redundant communication routes to increase reliability.

The communication in the Wireless Network is coordinated with TDMA (Time Division Multiple Access), which synchronizes the network participants in 10 ms timeframes. To avoid jamming, WirelessHART uses also FHSS (Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum). All 15 channels as defined in IEEE802.15.4 are used in parallel; WirelessHART uses FHSS to “hop” across these channels. Channels that are already in use are blacked out to avoid collisions with other wireless communication systems.

The combination of 10s synchronization and 15 channels allows 1500 communications per second.

Stainless Steel Resolvers Designed for Extreme Duty and Food Grade Applications

AMCI and Automated Control Engineering Group (ACE) realise the need for extreme-duty sensor feedback in harsh industrial environments, and in response, provide a family of stainless steel resolver transducers.

Options include 303 or 304 stainless steel housing and shaft, and a variety of mounting styles. The IP67 rated product line comes standard with either a 1/4", 3/8”, or 5/8” stainless steel shaft and an oversized double row sealed bearing. The input shaft in each of these stainless steel resolvers extends through the internal core of the resolver rotor windings. This one-piece rotor design eliminates internal coupling components, increases shaft strength and maximizes reliability.

Durability was the highest priority when designing AMCI’s stainless steel resolver transducer family. The optional 5/8” stainless steel shaft boasts exceptional shaft loading, and the high temperature rating up to 150°C (302°F) provides reliability where most sensors fail. Mechanically connected to the shaft of the controlled machine, these transducers are subject to severe conditions such as vibration, mechanical shock and possibly contaminates such as coolants, caustic vapors and salt water mist. For food and beverage applications where sanitizing wash downs are required, the stainless steel housing and robust IP67 rating will withstand all hose spray and cleaning solutions.

High performance applications like those found in paper factories, steel mills, ship loading, and mining applications are the inspiration for these extreme-duty rotary sensors. AMCI also considered food grade requirements when designing these resolvers. The non-porous nature of stainless steel will not support growth of mold, mildew, or bacteria. This provides a hygienic, easy to clean solution for customers manufacturing, processing, or packaging food.
